Lake Naivasha Day Trip – Bicycle Ride, Trek, Boat Ride & Guided Walking Safari
Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley, fringed by thick papyrus. The lake is almost 13kms across, but its waters are shallow with an average depth of five metres. Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, Buffalo wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the Lakes large hippo population sleep the day out in the shallows.
On this day trip, we explore activities around Lake Naivasha like bicycle ride and trekking the gorge at Hell’s Gate, boat ride in Lake Naivasha and guided walking safari at Crescent Island.
Day Trip Itinerary
Your safari driver guide will pick you up at 5:30am from your hotel or airport in Nairobi.
Scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley where we shall have a stop to view and photograph.
Proceed to Lake Naivasha and start with Hell’s Gate National Park, a relative small park in Kenya which can be explored on either foot, cycle or in the comfort of your safari vehicle.
We shall hire bicycles just near the park and cycle through the park with views of small game; giraffes, buffalo, zebra, impala, warthog…
On reaching the gorge on the other side of the park, we shall trek on foot with a professional tour guide as he/she explains the formation of the canyon and history of Hell’s gate.
We shall have lunch in your lodge at Lake Naivasha.
Proceed for a boat ride in the lake for an hour while watching different birds at the Lake. There are lots of birds, 450 species recorded in the lake. You will also sight pods of hippopotamus in the lake. We shall visit the Crescent Island where we take a guided walking safari with views of giraffes, zebra, impala, buffalo, waterbuck.
Afterwards depart for Nairobi and arrive late evening.
